Eleanor Mills
Eleanor Mills, a visual artist, skilfully blends illustrative drawings with textiles to explore storytelling themes inspired by domestic lifestyles. Her work delves into the relationship between fabric, memory, and everyday life, using textiles as both a material and a narrative tool.

During her time at university, she developed a multidisciplinary approach, experimenting with painting, mixed media, and textiles. This exploration led her to push the boundaries of sculpture and fabric, combining the two in innovative ways. Much of her work is deeply personal, reflecting on her own experiences of transitioning into adulthood and navigating societal expectations. Through self-reflection, she examines the challenges of independence, identity, and the routines that shape daily life. Eleanor has always been fascinated by the versatility of textiles and enjoys experimenting with different fibers, exploring how fabrics behave within compositions using a sewing machine. She possesses skills in sewing, crochet, knitting, and upholstery, with a keen interest in weaving. Her intricate use of textiles allows her to create layered, tactile pieces that blend craftsmanship with contemporary storytelling.

Currently, she is in the process of sewing appliqué pieces for her upcoming solo exhibition, Appliqué Afternoon, opening in September 2025 at Mill Tye Gallery. This body of work will showcase her passion for textiles, featuring intricate patchwork compositions that explore themes of home, routine, and nostalgia. By working with domesticated objects and fabrics, Eleanor continues to develop her artistic voice, using her practice to highlight the beauty in everyday moments and personal experiences.
